What is the to achieve?
We know that more and more people are recognising the need to fight back against the attacks of the Thatcher government.
But they are frustrated in their attempts by the present leadership of the labour movement. This month's TUC saw a whole week of empty 'debate' in which not a single resolution was tabled proposing action against the Tories.
At local level union officials stand by while jobs are slashed, vital services cut, real wages eroded and now even calls for cuts in actual wages.
Many recognise that a political answer is needed to these bureaucrats: hence the growth of membership and of Labour's left wing. We hope that the rally will attract many of those who have fought with us in trade union struggles and the Benn campaign, and show them the importance of being part of a revolutionary movement.
Socialist Organiser has agreed to run a workshop on 'Organising the Labour Left' and London Labour Briefing is doing one on Labour councils and the cuts. We hope to see many Socialist Organiser supporters and readers there.

Fusion
What is special particular event? • The present Worker Socialist League is the resul of a fusion during th summer of the old WSL wit the International-Communis League.
The combined organis: tion now has members a supporters in most majo towns - and far greate opportunity for work in th labour movement.
We think that th political gains embodied i this fusion should be know by other activists in th movement.
We hope that when the see and hear the kind o work we are doing and hav in view many comrades wi decide it is time to join u and help build a reall powerful Trotskyist party i Britain as part of an intel national movement.
That's why we've mad the rally more like a festiv: than a meeting: we hop that people will take th chance to get to know u: talk informally, and see fo themselves that the WSL i the only serious revolutior ary • organisation on th British left.
