STRIKERS at Arlington House hostel have received two boosts. One, of course, is the water workers' strike; the other is the decision by Camden's Labour council to begin proceedings against regulations.

The aim is to put pressure on Rowtons to sell the hostel to the council, which has made an offer to buy and is willing to re-employ the strikers on decent wages and conditions.

An unresolved problem, however, is that the capital spending by the council necessary for renovating the hostel (not the purchase, as mistakenly reported in last week's SO) is being refused Department of the Environment approval.

The strikers still need donations (c/o Camden Labour Centre, 8 Camden Rd, London NW1) and help on the picket lines d. at the hostel (Arlington Rd, NW1) and at Rowtons hotels, the Mount Pleasant in Calthorpe St and (from 12 to 2) the Grand in Southampton Row.
