WORKERS at Phillips Rubber in Manchester reoccupied their factory on Sunday night. This. together with an impressive mass picket on Monday morning, ensured that management could not set scab labour to work.

The occupation was ended on Tuesday as bailiffs and police re-served the eviction order granted by the courts last week.

The 110 strikers are out for a wage claim of £76 a week, at present they only get £48 a week basic.

Nine weeks into the strike, the workers still refuse to be bludgeoned back to work by management sackings. There is no doubt that the will to fight is still there. The successful mass picket on Monday points the way forward. It drew in other sectors ot workers, including dockers, and has built up the strikers' morale.

With more publicity for the mass pickets, and increased links with the local labour movement, the strikers can ensure that they are not isolated.
